The Repeat Offenders Database (ROD), which has been collated by the New South Wales Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research, offer a unique opportunity to analyse data quality issues for an important source of administrative data for Indigenous people. This seminar provides several independent estimates of the population of Indigenous offenders by estimating the number of people with unknown Indigenous status who are likely to be identified as Indigenous in other circumstances.

It examines trends and predictions for key Indigenous socioeconomic indicators in the context of the Rudd Government's policy commitment to eliminate the life expectancy gap between Indigenous and other Australians by 2030. A half hearted defence of the CDEP scheme

The CDEP scheme was developed as a response to the perceived social threat of sit-down money to Indigenous communities in the 1970s. Ironically, the scheme is now being criticised as being one of the main factors driving the social effects of prolonged welfare dependence. This paper updates the Office of Evaluation and Audit 1997 Report that evaluates the scheme.
